Love & Loss Podcast

Welcome to Love & Loss, A podcast where we talk about the difficulties surrounding pregnancy and infant loss. We host parents, siblings, and health professionals who have personally experienced loss or work closely with those who have.

Our History

Love & Loss is hosted by Rev. Joy Van Staalduinen who is a United Methodist Minister. She has served not only in congregational settings but also as a chaplain at Alamance Regional Medical Center, as well as Duke University Hospital where she served in the NICU, Labor & Delivery, and Pediatric Cardiac ICU. Following her chaplain experience, Joy and her partner, James, lost her first child at only 8 weeks gestation. Joy wanted to help other families who were experiencing similar losses by sharing her pain as well as the complex spiritual side of pregnancy and infant loss.

“I’m sorry, there is no heartbeat. Six words that result in millions of broken hearts.”
